The situation
  • Richmond West Primary School had an ongoing desire to deliver an optimum learning environment or all its student while cutting the cost of its energy use.
  • Demonstrated interest in upgrading their current 5 kW solar system to a 20 kW system to capitalise on the school’s roof space and potential for energy generation.
  • A strong focus on minimising the school’s carbon footprint.
The solution
  • The Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) and Cherry Energy Solutions worked together to support Richmond West to transition to low-carbon energy use.
  • Over 250 light fittings were upgraded to energy efficient LEDs, saving 62% on lighting costs.
  • Richmond West Primary School represents the flagship educational project for which Cherry Energy Solutions installed Cherry Pulse – our Energy Intelligence System.
  • A 20 kW solar system was installed on the school’s roof.
  • The school’s carbon footprint will reduce by more than 28,000 kWh per year (approximately 37,00 kg of CO2 emissions).
  • These solutions were implemented via. a Sustainable Melbourne Fund (SMF) repayment plan.
