Solar System.
Any solar PV system over 100kW could be considered a “solar farm”. These “large scale” systems are suitable for high energy consuming sites including large commercial offices, factories, plants, industrial sites, food processing, beverage and other manufacturing facilities, shopping centres and more. Sites would need an extremely large roof space to fit a system of this size, made up of over 750 x 330W panels (or modules) and approximately 10+ inverters.
Large scale solar may qualify for the federal government’s large-scale generation certificates (LGC’s), created by the Renewable Energy Target to reduce emissions in the electricity sector and promote renewable energy generation. LGC’s can be a source of revenue over a number of years, increasing your return on investment. Large scale systems can be roof or ground-mounted.
Aesthetics
Large scale solar system designs are customised according to whether they are roof mount or ground mount and available space, amongst other criteria. This can range from black panels, frameless panels or an arrangement to keep the system hidden from view on the street.
How long will my system last?
250kW Solar PV systems are made up of panels and inverters. Tier 1 reputable panels have performance warranties of 25 years and product warranties of 12-25 years (depending on the brand) and inverters can have warranties of 10 years +.
Size
Using 330W panels (or modules), a 249.8kW solar PV system would required 757 panels and approximately 10 inverters, depending on the size of the inverters.
