Health & Government
Cherry Energy Solutions offers innovative LED lighting products designed and engineered specifically for the medical environment. We have installed over 15,000 LED lights in a number of hospitals and medical facilities across Australia.
- Junee Correctional Centre was interested in dramatically cutting costs on their lighting bill but also in improving the correctional centre environment.
- A LED lighting makeover was a crucial step in improving the accommodation facilities, classrooms and administration areas.
- Requirements to bid for the tender included: (1) Being certified under the NSW Energy Saver Scheme (ESS), (2) Having a structured and broad warranty scheme, (3) Being able to conduct the installation under a tight time frame, (4) Being fully accredited under Australian quality standards.
The Epping Medical Centre is located north of Melbourne’s central business district and serves a large number of the patients attending The Northern Hospital – one of the largest public hospitals in the metropolitan area.
The medical centre was designed with an emphasis on delivering convenience and comfort to patients, whilst providing an excellent work environment for all the practitioners and staff working from this modern facility.
As part of their efforts to continue delivering a high quality service, the Epping Medical Centre selected Cherry LED lights to be used in the retrofit of their existing fixtures.
With 19 locations across Melbourne and a strong focus on sustainability the Greater Melbourne Cemeteries Trust (GMCT) were interested in using energy more efficiently and reducing their electricity bills.
Cherry Energy Solutions worked in collaboration with the respective local council bodies in Fawkner, Lilydale and Altona to design and implement LED lighting upgrades across the various sites.
With long operating hours and patient comfort a high priority, Ballarat Health Services were interested in upgrading to LED lighting to reduce operating costs and improve the clinic’s environment.
Manufacturing
Cherry has installed energy efficiency solutions for a number of large manufacturing companies, from food products to timber & trusses.
Conga Foods is one of Australia’s leading private, family-owned companies in the grocery industry.
With their large warehouse spaces and long operating hours, the opportunity to upgrade to LED lighting and solar with Cherry Energy Solutions was an easy way to improve the business’ bottom line. In addition to saving money, Conga Foods were especially interested in reducing their carbon emissions, increasing productivity and improving the working environment.
Vulcan Steel specialise in steel distribution and the processing of steel coil, plate and long products. Across their sites, weekly operating hours are upwards of 65 and with metal halide and fluorescent light fittings covering their warehouses, Vulcan were especially interested in the opportunity to become more energy efficient.
With large areas of the warehouse spaces used infrequently during the night shift, Cherry were tasked with designing a lighting upgrade customised to suit Vulcan’s needs.
CNP Brands is one of the leading manufacturers, importers and distributors of a broad range of nursery products. With a large factory in Derrimut, VIC and long operating hours, more than 60% of CNP Brands’ energy usage could be attributed to lighting.
In addition to cutting their energy bills, CNP Brands were interested in improving their lux levels, working environment and environmental footprint.
ATOM is a leading industrial hardware and safety equipment supplier and were interested in upgrading their Eagle Farm site, with a fully customised lighting design and installation to meet stringent lighting requirements and to highlight their merchandise and warehouse racking.
Hussey & Co was established in 1975 and is renowned for producing Australia’s finest gourmet baby leaf salad mixes, with all salads naturally field grown. Their large site on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria consumes a significant amount of energy and as a farming business, Hussey & Co are particularly passionate about supporting sustainability and renewable energy initiatives.
The large industrial space in Campbellfield was using an enormous amount of energy per annum, with 100,000 kWh from lighting alone.
Cherry were chosen as the only national provider that could offer a total energy solutions package for Peuker & Alexander.
Modern Baking, based out of an 18,000m factory in Melbourne’s Broadmeadows, employs more than 170 staff and produces Australia’s much loved Unibic ANZAC biscuits.
With over 900 light fittings, Modern Baking were aware that maximising lighting efficiencies would be one of the easiest ways to reduce their energy bills,
With the assistance of the Hume Light$mart Program and Cherry Energy Solutions, the business embarked on a project to retrofit all of its old fluorescent lights with energy efficient LED highbays, corn lights, TB Tubes, G24 lamps and floodlights.

Transport & Logistics
Cherry has successfully completed projects with some of Australia's logistics giants.
Booth Transport was founded in 1936 and uses customer service, innovation and productivity to set the standard in bulk liquid, container and direct transport services.
With large warehouse facilities across Australia, Booth was interested in reducing their electricity bills and making use of their large roof space to generate their own energy.
In addition to solar, Booth Transport was interested in battery storage technology to reduce their peak demand charges and store any excess energy produced by their new solar systems.
With lighting contributing to a large portion of Qube Logistics’ total expenditure on energy, they were looking for ways to cut their operation costs by becoming more energy efficient. The warehouse areas of their large logistics centres required a high lumen output and LED lighting offered the most cost effective solution to improve OH&S conditions, create a brighter, safer working environment and reduce costs.
Due to the height of a poles in the container yard, 28m and 36m, the installation of lighting would require extremely still conditions, with winds less than 20 km/h. This was an important consideration for the Cherry team during proposal stages.
McColl’s Transport is Australia’s largest independent bulk liquid carrier of milk, food and bulk chemicals, with the country’s most modern and specialised food grade and chemical tanker trucks spread over 14 depots.
McColl’s Transport chose Cherry Energy Solutions as their partner in sustainability to help reduce electricity bills across their three major sites in Tongala, Altona and Geelong.

We have worked with some of the most prominent businesses across Victoria to improve the working environment in their offices. LJ hooker saw their energy expenditure reduced by 80% thanks to the installation of Cherry LED lighting. BMW Financial services are now saving more than $45,000 per annum, with a combination of Cherry LEDs and Cherry Pulse intelligent energy monitoring.
DLA Piper is a global law firm with lawyers located in more than 30 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
Ensuring optimum working environments is high priority for DLA Piper worldwide, and with lighting accounting for 66% of their Melbourne office’s total energy expenditure, it was an easy decision to upgrade to LED lighting.

With over 2,300 light fittings and large energy costs from lighting, BMW Financial Services were well positioned to make some significant savings on their energy bill.

Fry’s Self Storage, based in Port Melbourne were concerned about recent increases in electricity costs. With long operating hours, this multi-site storage business was looking for a way to reduce their dependence on the grid whilst reducing operating costs.
They chose Cherry Energy Solutions as an accredited Clean Energy Council solar retailer and installer to implement a solar strategy across their entire property portfolio.
Australian Fluid Handling (AFH) is one of Australia’s leading providers of customised and engineered compressors, pumps and skid packaged equipment.

- Operating from a 20,000 m² facility in Clayton South and running long daily operating hours, Annex Holding’s energy lighting costs were an increasing concern to the management team.
- Having over 170 power-hungry 400W Metal Halide Highbays, the company decided to retrofit all existing lighting fixtures to energy efficient LEDs.

Retail
Retail stores are perfectly poised to benefit from our portfolio of solutions. With the installation of Cherry Pulse, our intelligent energy monitoring system, across 20 Country Road stores, we were able to cut energy wastage by 30%!
Spotlight Retail Group (SRG) is Australia’s largest privately-owned and operated family business and fosters two iconic Australian brands. Spotlight is Australia’s largest fabric, craft, party and home interiors superstore and Anaconda is Australia’s largest outdoor adventure and sports superstore.
In 2017, SRG turned its focus to sustainability and partnered with Cherry Energy Solutions for the rollout of LED lighting upgrades across 150 stores in Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia.
Nowra Farmer’s Market in NSW has sustainability at the core of its business and was interested in reducing their electricity bills. The market contacted Eutility who commissioned Cherry Energy Solutions to conduct an LED lighting assessment to upgrade their high energy-consuming light fittings.
A number of Wittner stores across Melbourne were interested in improving the ambience and shopping experience in their stores while reducing their energy expenditure on lighting. Located in local council areas in which Cherry has strong partnerships, the Wittner stores were eligible for rebates of up to 10% of the total cost of their LED lighting upgrades.
Preston Ultra Tune provides a full range of automotive care, general servicing, tyres and log book servicing to private car and fleet car owners in the North East suburbs of Melbourne.
As a company with a number of sustainability initiatives already in place, they were looking for ways to reduce their environmental footprint further. At the same time, automotive workshops tend to have limited natural light and Ultra Tune Preston’s large workshop space requires high lux levels in order to ensure maximum levels of service, so upgrading to LED lights was the perfect solution to save money and improve the working environment.

Education
Cherry has installed over 18,000 LED lights across more than 60 schools in Australia, saving them over 1,300,000 kWh which is equivalent to 1,600,000 kg C02 every year and more than $300,000 per annum.
Established in 1955 and now one of the larger schools in the district, Pascoe Vale North Primary School provides education for over 400 students.
With a strong focus on sustainability, PVNPS were eager to reduce their carbon footprint and energy bills while improving the learning environment.
With over 400 light fittings throughout the school and operating hours that coincide with the sun, switching to solar energy and upgrading their light fittings to LED made perfect sense.
St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School were interested in becoming an ambassador for sustainability within the local community and educating students, family and community members on the importance of energy efficiency initiatives. They were particularly interested in investigating the opportunity of installing solar systems on both their junior and senior
campuses. In addition, the school was conscious of rising electricity prices and wanted to protect themselves against future price increases through renewable energy sources.
Northcote High School provides education for 1,500 students from Years 7-12. With over 2,000 light fittings throughout the school, it was aware that a considerable amount of its energy expenditure could be attributed to lighting. Both the Principal and Sustainability Manager had a strong desire to improve the energy efficiency of the school and save money on their electricity bills.
In addition to reducing their lighting bill, the school wanted to investigate the opportunity to install a solar system.
It was crucial that the school were able to remain cash flow positive from Day 1, in order to manage the cost of the project.
Mordialloc College is recognised as a state leader in teaching and learning, student relationships and wellbeing. Sustainability is an important focus for the school and they wished to upgrade their facilities to become more energy efficient.
- Richmond West Primary School had an ongoing desire to deliver an optimum learning environment or all its student while cutting the cost of its energy use.
- Demonstrated interest in upgrading their current 5 kW solar system to a 20 kW system to capitalise on the school’s roof space and potential for energy generation.

Hospitality & Leisure
Cherry has worked with some of the most well recognised names in Australia to power their profits through energy efficiency. We save the average fast food store more than $8,000 annually on their electricity bills for lighting.
Hawkers Beer were conscious of the high electricity bills for their brewery in Reservoir. The opportunity to upgrade to LED lighting offered an easy way to reduce costs while improving the working environment.
As a company with sustainability at the heart of their business, Hawkers Brewery were also particularly interested in reducing their carbon footprint.
Part of the world renowned Accor Hotel Group, IBIS Redcliffe, WA were interested in reducing their operating costs and becoming more sustainable.
Operating 24hrs a day, the large site in Redcliffe was using an enormous amount of energy.
IBIS Redcliffe wanted a company with a solid reputation in the commercial solar industry so contacted Energy Action, who commissioned Cherry Energy Solutions to install a solar system to cover the majority of their peak energy consumption.
McDonald’s Altona was seeking ways to improve the overall ambiance of the dining area whilst upgrading to LED lighting to save on their electricity bills.
The long operating hours of the store were resulting in high energy biils and the old halogen and fluorescent lights were causing unnecessary maintenance costs.

Situated in the municipality of the City of Hobsons Bay, McDonald’s Altona were perfectly positioned to access local government rebates available due a partnership with Cherry.
Warburton Holiday Park were interested in reducing their electricity bills and improving their green credentials with solar.
Get Lost Travel Group is one of Australia’s largest independent small group tour operators, carrying more than 75,000 passengers a year. Based out of a large warehouse space in Williamstown North, Get Lost Travel were interested in becoming more energy efficient and improving their green credentials.
The Hoppers Club was established in 1973 and now boasts three eating facilities, nine sub-clubs, several function rooms, bars and more. After engaging with Energy Action in 2015 and upgrading their refrigeration systems and lighting to LED, the Hoppers Club have placed a strong emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability. This year, the
Club were ready to take the next step in their journey towards energy freedom and find the right strategy to reduce the club’s reliability on the grid and future proof the business against further increases in electricity prices.
As part of a large tender covering 10 sites, a 62kW solar system was installed at CHL Guildford.
